Vanilla Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is an Italian dessert that is luxurious and very versatile. It is usually served in little shot glasses or little cups. It’s a perfect dessert to serve especially if your you’ve got no time in hand on the day of the event/party itself. You can be prepared the night before and kept in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it.
 
Panna Cotta is made by cooking the cream, milk and vanilla. Gelatin is also added to it to give some body to this creamy mixture. Panna Cotta are really versatile and widely loved. You can also make different variations of these.

Vanilla Panna Cotta

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups cream
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) caster sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp gelatin powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Place the hot water in a small bowl and sprinkle the powdered gelatin in.
  2. Give it a stir and set aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Split the vanilla and scrape out the seeds. Place both the seeds and the rest of the bean into a saucepan with the cream, milk and sugar.
  4. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring gently.
  5. Add in the gelatin mixture and turn off flame. Stir till the gelatine completely dissolves.
  6. Strain the liquid into a small jug, and discard the vanilla bean.
  7. Pour into shot glasses/molds and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
