Honey Roasted Figs with Greek Yogurt

Honey Roasted Figs with Greek Yogurt

If you ask me, would I choose to have a nice farmhouse with hens, cows and sheep or a house with a beautiful garden full of tomatoes, pumpkins, rosemary…etc, I would select a house with the garden. Yes, I would rather dig into bowls of roasted vegetables. I bet if I start having a garden, I am gonna be as slim as Miranda kerr. #agirlcandream

I love figs and I have been eating dried ones all along. Fresh figs are not available all year round and since it is easily perishable, they are often dried and preserved so that we can enjoy them all year round. The dusky purple skins and the pretty looking red flesh within. Such a pretty sight! ♥

Figs have a unique taste to it. It’s basically sweet, chewy and full of edible seeds that are somewhat crunchy. Figs are not only tasty but also they have numerous health benefits to offer.

  • It improves digestion since it is rich in dietary fiber.
  • Figs have more fiber per serving than any other fruit.
  • One piece of dried fig has about 40 calories and it is an ideal snack for people who are health freaks.
  • Figs are rich in antioxidants.
  • Figs are a good fruit source of calcium and lessen the risk of osteoporosis.

Just like dates, figs can be used as a sweetener. Figs remind me alot about dates and I guess they do share common ancestry.

I was at the supermarket the other day and saw punnets of pretty looking fresh figs that I simply had to purchase. There are obviously many ways to eat fresh figs and a favorite would be with mascarpone, but I have read that grilling figs bring out their best flavors and I have already eaten fig yogurt in that past, and that was so delicious, I decided to serve them with yogurt as it was definitely healthier and lighter.

Honey Roasted Figs with Greek Yogurt

I roasted the figs with a touch of butter and honey and served this with Greek yogurt that was sweetened with honey.

This Honey Roasted Figs with Greek Yogurt is perfect as an exotic dessert or a decadent breakfast dish. Beautiful and good for you too! Who said you can’t have the best of both worlds?
