Mixed Berries and Banana Smoothie

Jun 30, 2014 · 2 Comments

Bedok Mall

I went to Bedok Mall recently and it was my virgin visit. The mall was a food galore! 50 cents sushi, that drove me and the nieces nuts.Yes 50 cents is cheap, but after going crazy and trying to stuff the basket with with every type of sushi, I ended up forking out almost 40 bucks. I just knew that Singapore and inexpensive can never be fitted in one line.

Pizzas are usually served as a whole over here, but there is this cafe, Pezzo Pizza at Bedok Mall that sells pizzas in slices. It is really good for those who prefer variety in their pizzas. I also had a delicious smoothie at this place called “Smoothie King”. The Banana ‘n’ Berry smoothie was DELICIOUS. It tasted fresh and really perked me up. In-fact, it was “too delicious”, if you know what I meant. It was also sweet which brought me to a question. Is it really THAT healthy? I was wondering how much sugar was being used. It was $6++ for 1 regular cup. Not that cheap. Told ya, nothing is cheap in Singapore. Anyways, I decided to make my own version. I reckon it would not taste exactly the same, but as long it is still delicious and consumes less sugar, I am more than happy.

Mixed Berries and Banana Smoothie So they actually used strawberries and bananas but I used raspberries, bananas and blueberries (rich in anti-oxidants) instead. I guess I was trying to be different and “original”. Disillusioned as always.

mixed-berries-and-banana-smoothieYogurt + berries + bananas = delicious, refreshing bliss! Frozen berries makes everything so easy. It doesn’t just taste delicious, it thickens your smoothie too! Simplicity aside, this Mixed Berries and Banana Smoothie is actually perfect for breakfast as it actually fills you up pretty nicely. In case you prefer your smoothie sweeter, feel free to add more honey!

Mixed Berries and Banana SmoothieAs I am typing this post, I am thinking of making some for my Iftar later. Yes people, it is already the second day Of Ramadan over here in Singapore. Did you get a chance to check out the recipes I compiled for Ramadan? Do check them out okay, hopefully it would facilitate and provide you with some help in preparing your suhoor and iftar meals.

Have a blessed Ramadan!

Ummi, you can get it from Cold Storage or Phoon huat, which carries a whole lot of frozen fruits. It’s cheaper there too. You can check out their locations at http://www.phoonhuat.com/ 🙂
