Strawberry and Mango Smoothie

Feb 19, 2015 · 2 Comments

Strawberry and Mango Smoothie

I am a huge fan of Berries. They are pretty, flavorful, taste amazing on cheesecakes and hold a long list of health benefits. When in season, berries are delicious on its own or with yogurt for a creamy, refreshing snack. When you do not get the best of the berries, smoothie’ing is the way to go.

I wanted to do a mango + strawberry smoothie, but I felt that yellow + red might not yield a pretty looking smoothie. I can be such a superficial home cook at times. I prepare food in the solace of my small kitchenette, but most of the time, I like my food to look pretty, with gorgeous plating. Not always though, as at times, I just wanna use paper plates and no one has to even bother about washing up.

So this was a 2 in 1 smoothie., I thought these two fruits, would look better on its own and I blended them separately. It was pretty to look at and was delightful as well. Drinking this was somewhat fun as the flavor changes unexpectedly. It started with this tangy strawberry smoothie and 3/4 way through, you get this sweet-smelling mango smoothie. The key to sweetening up a smoothie is using extra ripe fruit as those concentrated natural sugars lend a sweetness to the smoothie. I used Greek yogurt for this smoothie, but if you prefer,  you can use regular yogurt instead. Drinking this actually brightened up my day! That’s the power of fresh fruits and protein!

I am going to try this with other varieties of fruits next time! I already have a couple of combos below in my head.

Kiwi + mango

Cherry + Strawberry

Orange + Raspberry

Apple + Mango

Blueberry + Cranberry

This Strawberry and Mango Smoothie is totally rocking my mind right now! Oh by the way, a recent study said that adding a few more berries in your yogurt or blending berries into your morning smoothie may just help to reduce heart attack risk. I guess it’s time to drink up more berries people!

Hello Nora! Yes it would. In fact the smoothie gonna be more vibrant. You might need more sugar if the raspberries are too tart though. 🙂
