Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients

  • Half a watermelon, cut into cubes (about 5 cups)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (more if your watermelon is not sweet)
  • Juice of 23 lemons (see notes)
  • 1 cup chilled water (for blending)
  • 1/4 cup hot water (For simple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Cook the sugar in 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely melted.
  2. Alternatively, you can just dissolve the sugar in 1/4 cup of hot water. This works just as well.
  3. Squeeze lemons into a large pitcher.
  4. In a blender, blend watermelon and some water in batches
  5. Pour this mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into the pitcher.
  6. Add in simple syrup and stir to combine.
  7. Serve over ice.

Notes

Use 2 lemons if you prefer it mildly sour. If you prefer it sour, you can use 3 lemons.
